How confident are you in your ability to define your future?

It was two years ago today, that I left the company I had worked at for 30 years. When I walked out of the building in Northridge, CA, and looked back at the HARMAN sign I had passed countless times, I said to myself, "oh crap, what have I done?"

I really do miss the audio industry and the frequent interactions with my colleagues, suppliers, customers, and peers. The industry is fun and the people fantastic.

As I reflect on the days since I walked under that sign one last time, without a doubt, they have been two of the best years of my life.

My business, Your Best BET, is thriving. I am engaged in new markets, industries, opportunities, and challenges and have learned so much. I get to partner with incredible people, who are deeply passionate about their businesses, customers, employees, and products.

I travel less, stress less, and sleep more than a few hours a night. I eat well, golf more and I am healthy and fit. I get time with my beautiful wife, son, and daughter and they actually like me. The best part is, I get to wake up tomorrow and do it all over again. I now look forward, not back.

Change can be good. Amazing even. Don’t be afraid to take a big step. You can’t cross a chasm in two small jumps.
